Updating the ReplyFox Free Plan: What Changed and Why

When we launched ReplyFox, our goal with the free plan was simple: let anyone try real AI-powered Instagram replies without friction. For a long time, that meant offering 100 AI-generated replies per month at no cost.
As the product evolved and usage increased, we had to take a closer look at how the free plan was being used — and how to keep ReplyFox sustainable while continuing to improve the platform.
This post explains what changed, why we made the decision, and what the new free plan includes.
What Changed
Previously, the ReplyFox free plan included up to 100 AI-generated replies per month.
Starting now, the free plan includes: - 20 AI-generated replies per month - 30 non-AI replies per month (rule-based replies such as keyword or emoji auto-replies)
This means you can still actively use ReplyFox for engagement, but AI-powered replies are now more limited on the free tier.
Why We Made This Change
AI-generated replies are the most powerful feature in ReplyFox — and also the most expensive to run. Each AI reply involves real model inference, context retrieval, and processing costs.
As more users joined and connected active Instagram accounts, it became clear that offering 100 AI replies per month for free was not sustainable long-term. Continuing that model would either slow down development or compromise reliability — neither of which aligns with what we want to build.
Reducing the AI quota allows us to: - Keep the platform fast and reliable - Continue investing in better accuracy and context - Release new features without cutting corners - Maintain a fair balance between free and paid usage
Why Non-AI Replies Are Still Included
Not every comment needs AI.
Many Instagram interactions are predictable and repetitive — emoji-only messages, short keywords, or predefined phrases. That’s why ReplyFox supports non-AI auto-replies, such as keyword-based rules and emoji-only responses.
These replies don’t use AI models and don’t generate inference costs, so they can safely remain part of the free plan. They allow you to keep your comment section active, friendly, and responsive even without consuming AI credits.
Who the Free Plan Is For
The updated free plan is ideal if you: - Want to test ReplyFox on a real account - Have low or occasional comment volume - Use AI replies selectively for important questions - Rely on keyword or emoji automation for lighter engagement
If your account receives frequent questions or sales-related comments, upgrading ensures uninterrupted AI replies and a smoother experience overall.
Our Commitment Going Forward
We believe in transparency. This change wasn’t made lightly, and it’s not about limiting users — it’s about building a product that can grow responsibly.
ReplyFox will continue to improve AI quality, expand automation options, and give you more control over how replies are generated and billed. The free plan remains a genuine way to experience the product, while paid plans support the infrastructure that makes AI replies possible.
