Instagram comments are often just the beginning of a conversation. Many users ask a question, show interest, or reply under a post — and the real conversion usually happens later in private messages.
ReplyFox now supports a new feature that connects these two moments: sending a direct message automatically after a user replies under your Instagram post. This makes it possible to move conversations from public comments into DMs at exactly the right time, without manual follow-ups.
Why Follow Up in DMs
Public comments are great for visibility, but they’re not always the best place for detailed answers, links, or next steps. Pricing, booking links, menus, guides, or onboarding instructions often work better in private messages.
With this feature, ReplyFox can detect specific comment replies and automatically send a direct message containing the information you want to share. This keeps your comment section clean while continuing the conversation privately.
How It Works Today
At the moment, automatic DM follow-ups are supported only for keyword-based auto replies.
This means you can configure specific keywords or phrases that, when detected in a comment, trigger both a predefined public reply and a follow-up DM. The DM content is fully controlled by you and can include text, links, or instructions for the next step.
Starting with keyword-based automation keeps DM behavior predictable and intentional, ensuring messages are sent only when the user’s intent is clear.
Built Into the Existing Automation Flow
DM follow-ups are not a separate system. They are part of ReplyFox’s existing comment-processing pipeline and use the same intent detection, rule matching, and validation logic.
When a keyword rule matches, ReplyFox decides whether a DM should be sent based on your configuration. If the conditions aren’t met or the comment doesn’t match a defined rule, no message is sent.
This prevents unwanted or accidental messages and keeps conversations respectful.
Designed for Real Use Cases
Keyword-triggered DMs work especially well for scenarios where users explicitly ask for something, such as pricing, guides, booking links, or more details.
Instead of continuing a long public thread, ReplyFox can reply briefly under the post and immediately send a private message with everything the user needs. This creates a smoother and more personal experience.
